House Science, Space, and Technology Committee Ranking Member Frank Lucas welcomed two new members to the Committee today. Representative Mike Garcia of California and Representative Tom Tiffany of Wisconsin joined the Committee after winning special elections to Congress.
Rep. Garcia was a highly decorated United States Naval Officer and businessman before joining Congress.
“I’m excited to have Rep. Mike Garcia of California join the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee,” Lucas said. “His years of experience as a military pilot and a business executive have given him a unique perspective on the value of technological innovation—particularly in aeronautics.”
Prior to his election to Congress, Rep. Tiffany served in the Wisconsin State Assembly and State Senate.
“I’d like to welcome Rep. Tom Tiffany of Wisconsin to the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee,” Lucas said. “He understands the importance of a strong domestic energy industry, and I’m looking forward to working with him to keep America at the forefront of scientific innovation.”
Lucas also thanked Representative Pete Olson of Texas for his service on the Committee. Rep. Olson is leaving, after being temporarily given a waiver to sit on the Science Committee in addition to his other assignments.
“I want to thank Rep. Pete Olson for his time on our Committee,” Lucas said. “He’s been a valuable member of our team and has done great work to advance America’s space program. I’m sorry to see him go but I appreciate his years of service.”
