Washington, D.C. – Today in a letter sent to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lisa Jackson, Subcommittee on Investigations and Oversight Chairman Paul Broun (R-GA) requested a briefing on a draft scientific study of the Bristol Bay watershed and its natural resources entitled, “An Assessment of Potential Mining Impacts on Salmon Ecosystems of Bristol Bay, Alaska.”
“As Chairman of the Investigations and Oversight Subcommittee, I take my oversight responsibilities very seriously, especially when it involves scientific studies and assessments by federal agencies within the Committee’s jurisdiction - such as the EPA,” Chairman Broun states in his letter. “I’ve asked Administrator Jackson to schedule this briefing by the end of the month, and I look forward to her timely response to my request.”
