WASHINGTON – Today, House Science, Space, and Technology Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) and Space Subcommittee Chairman Brian Babin (R-Texas) released the following statement regarding the successful landing of NASA’s InSight mission.
Chairman Smith and Chairman Babin:
“The successful landing of InSight and first deployment of its components is a testament to NASA's exceptional scientific, engineering, and aeronautical capabilities. The 2017 NASA Transition Authorization law strengthened NASA's core mission of space science that advances human knowledge and opens the frontier beyond Earth. InSight is made possible by NASA's commitment to planetary science and technological development. The InSight mission will not only answer scientific questions about the formation of Mars and other rocky planets, but will also enhance our broader understanding of space science, advancing exploration to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. Congratulations to Administrator Jim Bridenstine and the entire InSight team for this achievement.”
